These are specific against particular type of parasites. It is said that half of the world\'s population suffers from the attack of helminthes. Antihelmintics are used to kill the intestinal worms. Such kind of drugs are also known as vermifuges.

These include diethylcarbonazine citrate. It can treat filarial and loa loa infection.

Ivermectin is a macrocyclic lactone used to treat round worm infection.Mebendazole is a wide spectrum anthelmintic and is really safe drug. It can cure round worm, hook worm, whip worm and pin worm infection.

Metriphonate is used for blood fluke infection. Niclosamide is the major drug used for treating tap worms. It will destroy the tapeworms and eggs of tape worms. There have been mild stomach related side effects known praziquantel kills the adult worms and the larval. It is very effective against tape worms and flukes.

Pyrantel paralyses the worms, contracts them and expels them out of the body through the stools.
