Amaryl tablets contain an ingredient known as glimepiride it is used to stimulate the production of insulin in the pancreas and the insulin lowers the amount of sugar in the blood.
Amaryl Contraindications
Amaryl should not be used to treat type-1 insulin dependent diabetes or diabetic keto-acidosis. If you have any allergic reaction to the drug you should cease taking it immediately and consult a doctor. If you have a hereditary blood disorder, liver disease or kidney disease then you should not use Amaryl.
Amaryl Interactions With Other Drugs

The most common side effects of Amaryl include: fever, nausea, vomiting, low blood sugar level (hypoglycaemia), skin reactions and general fever like symptoms. The elderly should consult their doctor before taking Amaryl due to the increased risk of age. Anyone with liver or kidney problems should also consult a doctor as well as those who have adrenal gland problems or disorders of the thyroid gland.
Amaryl Pregnancy And Breastfeeding
Amaryl should not be taken during pregnancy as it can affect the foetus, if you become pregnant while taking Amaryl it is important you stop taking the drug and use injections of insulin instead having consulted with a doctor first of course. Amaryl can also be absorbed into breast milk so nursing mothers should refrain from using it as it will affect the blood sugar levels of the child. Consulting your doctor first is the best advice in either case.
