How does Aldactone work?
Aldactone is a potassium-sparing water pill or diuretic. The levels of the natural hormone aldosterone in the body are controlled by Aldactone. Effects of Aldosterone are seen on the salt and water balance of the body and it is produced in the adrenal gland. Aldactone prevents the body from absorbing too much of salt or potassium by keeping this aldosterone at correct levels.  It is also approved by the FDA as it is used in the treatment of patients who are facing problems due to retention of salt or water.

Precautions before Taking Aldactone
During the treatment with Aldactone you should stay away from potassium or salt rich foods to avoid potassium levels becoming too high as Aldactone restricts potassium from being absorbed. You need to speak to your doctor about adjusting the doses of Aldactone or switching to substitute treatment if you are suffering with heart, liver or kidney disease. Retained fluids from the body are flushed by Aldactone; therefore it is very important keep your body properly hydrated.

Adverse Effects of Aldactone
There are certain common side effects observed during the treatment of Aldactone, which are as follows:

Overdose of Aldactone or an occasional allergic reaction has also been reported and following are the symptoms of side effects due to an overdose of Aldactone.
