The active ingredient in the Plavix tablets is an antiplatelet type of medicine that is often times called a blood thinning drug, and what this does is to prevent the platelets of blood cells from attaching together to create a block and becoming a blood clot. Clots are generally formed by the chemical in the body that is referred to as the ADP, this chemical is responsible for causing the blood cell platelets to stick together and start a blood clotting process. The Clopidogrel ingredient in the Plavix tablets stops the ADP from performing that duty and thus reducing the possibility of clots being formed.
