Evista: Drug Information For Patient

Evista Indications

Evista is typically used to control the effects of osteoporosis on postmenopausal women. Evista is not effective at reducing certain other symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes due to its selective nature.

Evista How It Works

Evista contains an active ingredient named raloxifene which is a type of selective oestrogen modulator. Usually declining levels of oestrogen result in declined bone structure, raloxifene works by stimulating the receptors in the bone and increasing bone strength and density. Usually these receptors are stimulated by oestrogen but at the menopause oestrogen levels decrease and Evista replaces it.
